The ideal candidate for our Product Manager position has a solid understanding of US and/or Canadian payroll and human capital management for North American higher education institutions, including best practices, user roles, competitive offerings in this market, and awareness of future trends. Under the guidance of the Principal Product Manager, the Product Manager plays a vital role in Anthology processes to: Develop insight into our market, our customers, and their needs that will enable us to envision product functionality and services that will excite purchasers and delight users. Be a key member of a productive, creative scrum team that delivers a high-quality product fulfilling that product vision.
Be a proactive collaborator with the other scrum teams with whom we interdependently deliver value to customers. Engage with other departments that participate in selling, delivering, and supporting our products and services to ensure that collectively we learn as much as we can from each other about our customer and market needs and wants. The Product Manager role requires working closely with key stakeholders throughout the organization and beyond,
so this person must be able to communicate different messages to different people about the project at any given time.
The Product Manager works closely with the Product Management organization as a whole to understand the market needs. This person is responsible for conveying the market needs to the Scrum team in the form of Features and Product Backlog Items. The Product Manager is also responsible for prioritizing the backlog based on business value and serving as the point person for the coders and testers on the Scrum team.
The Product Manager participates in standard Scrum ceremonies including stand-ups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, poker planning, release planning, and release readiness. The Product Manager is also responsible for signing off on features to ensure they meet the agreed-upon acceptance criteria and overall market need.
Primary responsibilities will include: Curating Features and Product Backlog Items for new functionality and enhancements, from writing the initial draft and reviewing them with the scrum team in grooming and design sessions through participating in playback sessions to confirm that the agreed acceptance criteria have been met.
Maintaining a healthy and prioritized product backlog to secure continuous delivery of maximum business value. Participating in Scrum team planning and being available to provide the team advice, clarification, and guidance. Delivering training to internal resources on new or changed functionality.
Eliciting customer engagement during the development through, for example, round-table discussions, product demonstrations, and customer feedback. Attending and presenting at industry trade shows,
customer meetings, online focus groups, and/or our Annual User Conference. Building positive relationships and trust with our customers and the market through on-time delivery, high quality, and ongoing innovation.
Continuously developing product and process knowledge in the relevant product domains. Continuously developing an understanding of the evolving market and user base, and using this insight to guide product decisions. Engaging with internal stakeholders including other PMs, Professional/Implementation Services, Support Services, Senior Leadership, Design (UI/UX), Accessibility, and Sales.
The Candidate: Required skills/qualifications: Strong analytical skills. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Payroll and/or Accounting/Finance background.
At least 3-4 years of relevant product management, product owner,
or business analyst experience and an overall experience of 5-8 years. Skilled at meeting facilitation and presenting. Familiar with Scrum methodologies and Product Manager/Owner role.
Strong time management skills and project management skills. Ability to prioritize and manage a wide range of tasks, and communicate status clearly with the team. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, time-compressed, and dynamic environment.
Skilled at writing requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Commitment to accountability and quality deliverables.
Ability to collaborate effectively in a team that includes members in India, US, Canada, and Colombia. Fluency in written and spoken English. Preferred skills/qualifications: Knowledge of US and/or Canadian payroll.
Product Management experience with an enterprise system. Experience with a mature ERP system (Finance, Human Capital Management, Payroll) such as Microsoft AX/Dynamics, Oracle/PeopleSoft Financials/HR/Payroll, SAP, or Workday. Experience with a Student Information System (SIS) such as Anthology Student, Ellucian, PeopleSoft Campus Solution, Oracle Student Cloud, or Workday.
Experience with software solutions for Higher Education. Ability to facilitate multiple people towards a common goal.
