WBL services its loan portfolio and loan portfolios for third parties, specializing in the management of non-performing loan pools and REO.
About the Job:
The Deputy General Counsel will, generally, strategize and collaborate with business units on legal, compliance, regulatory and operational matters, and provide accurate and timely counsel.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide advice,
guidance and support in connection with corporate transactions, in collaboration with business partners
2. Structure, negotiate and memorialize debt and equity financings
3. Maintain a best practices corporate governance environment and protocol
4. Support the administration and maintenance of the company's compliance program
5. Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations
6. Coordinate all legal and regulatory aspects of the loan origination process
7. Support default management, loss mitigation and related litigation efforts
8. Develop and monitor Legal department policies and procedures
9. Manage and oversee outside counsel
10. Other projects and duties as assigned
Requirements
1. JD required from accredited law school
2. Admitted to the bar in any of the United States or D.C. preferred
3. 6-10 years' experience; law firm experience required, combined in-house legal experience desirable
4. Able to effectively and independently organize and manage multiple assignments and changing priorities
5.
Demonstrated leadership and project management experience
6. Able to perform high-level legal services with minimal supervision
7. Strong legal research, document drafting and writing skills
8. Superior analytical skills
9. Excellent business judgment
10. Strong verbal communication and negotiation skills
11. Excellent practical and creative problem-solving skills
12. Positive, team-oriented and collaborative attitude
13. Computer skills - Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Benefits
USD Salary, rate based on experience.
11 Paid US holiday days per year.
