Overview
Publicis ReSources is seeking a talented and flexible Data Privacy Lawyer to assist our Latin American and to some extent US businesses.
The role is broad and involves advising our business on the various privacy risks, obligations and other issues related to privacy.
You will be a member of our Global Data Privacy Office (GDPO) and depending on seniority either report to Publicis Groupe´s Chief Data Privacy Officer or a senior member of the GDPO.
Under the oversight and guidance of the Groupe’s global Chief Data Privacy Officer, the Data Privacy Counsel serves as first point of contact for all LATAM privacy-related issues and privacy matters for assigned business unit(s).
Responsibilities
Team and Business Support:
- Member of the Publicis Groupe global data privacy team supporting Publicis Groupe’s Latin American business units and assigned US business unit(s) with activities in the region.
- Advise marketing teams on LATAM data privacy laws and regulations and Group Data Privacy Policies.
- Serve as subject matter expert on advertising technology, media, and advertising/marketing privacy issues for internal legal and business teams and support the business teams by providing appropriate guidance and privacy by design insight.
- Collaborate with our privacy operations team to adapt data governance materials such as inventory templates, vendor due diligence questionnaires, proprietary system questionnaires, and privacy impact assessment questionnaires.
- Help develop data privacy training materials and conduct privacy training.
- Assist with privacy projects, such as policy and process development, in coordination with global GDPO members across Publicis Groupe.
Regulatory and Legal Compliance:
- Maintain current knowledge of all relevant data privacy legislation and regulations in LATAM region and distribute this knowledge across both the legal function and the wider business.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of evolving legislative, regulatory, and industry proposals and data privacy laws enforcement trends, mainly for the advertising technology and marketing sector, and inform privacy operations team on new requirements to develop privacy program tasks.
- Draft and review privacy notices and cookies policy, and other disclosures.
- Support the legal team on privacy issues in transactional matters, such as assisting with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating data privacy provisions or data protection agreements, vendor assessments, etc. in complex commercial contracts.
Risk Assessment and Privacy Impact:
- Support/conduct risk assessments and privacy impact assessments (PIAs) for business and marketing-related data processing activities for applicable systems, products, or services.
- Work with product and IT teams to ensure privacy by design in marketing technology (e.g., ad tech, CRM).
- Review and approve marketing strategies, campaigns, and partnerships from a privacy compliance perspective.
- Deploy Data Protection officer’s (DPO) functions in the region, acting as a point of contact in front of clients, regulators, data subjects, and interested individuals.
Qualifications
Legal and Professional Background:
- Licensed attorney.
- 4+ years of legal experience, with 2+ years of relevant privacy experience.
- Privacy certification (such as CIPP/T, CIPP/M, CIPP/US from IAPP or similar) or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Strong transactional background, including drafting and negotiating commercial transactions with respect to privacy and consumer protection issues.
- English fluency level B2+ or above.
Privacy and Compliance Knowledge:
- Direct experience applying LATAM and US privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially those relevant for media and advertising.
- Practical and advanced understanding of the digital landscape and the compliance challenges related to data collection and processing in both identifiable and pseudonymous spaces.
- Marketing and advertising technology experience preferred, including legal support for ad serving, programmatic buying, and data management, ad tech, cookies, tracking technologies, and digital marketing compliance in media and digital services.
- Capable of assessing privacy risks, identifying creative solutions, and balancing regulatory requirements with business needs.
Communication and Stakeholder Management:
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex privacy laws and regulations into clear, actionable advice for stakeholders, including marketing, sales, and technology solutions teams.
- Commercially minded and having good communication and inter-personal skills to negotiate privacy-related contract terms with vendors, clients, and partners, ensuring data protection obligations are met.
- Ability to remain composed and provide clear guidance in response to data breaches, regulatory inquiries, or evolving compliance challenges.
Project Management and Teamwork:
- Skilled at working with cross-functional teams (legal, compliance, IT, Marketing) in a fast-paced, data-driven environment, to ensure privacy compliance aligns with business goals.
- Willingness and flexibility to be a team player and take on new responsibilities and challenges as privacy and Publicis Groupe’s services continue to evolve.
- Ability to take ownership of projects and tasks and see them through completion, with leadership, autonomy, and commitment.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, provide advice under tight deadlines, and competent in managing a varied workload.

- Enthusiastic, energetic data protection and privacy subject matter expert, with good knowledge of the latest regulatory changes and the related impacts on the media and advertising industry.
