In light of this sustained success, the company is currently in search of a Senior Risk Officer, Financial Institutions – Credit Risk Management / Latin America (m/f/d) Key Responsibilities: Perform/lead comprehensive credit risk analysis of financial institutions for current and potential investment opportunities across assigned countries in Central and South America.
Assume the role of Risk Transaction Leader for proposed transactions/investments by participating in on- and off-site due diligence to perform a comprehensive credit risk analysis to identify and assess key credit risks.
Provide/write concise and credible credit risk opinions for decision makers.
Such opinions should contain defined key risks, respective mitigants if identified, and overall risk evaluation from the credit perspective.
Perform regular and ad hoc internal ratings for the assigned portfolio/financial institutions and outstanding exposures.
Perform regular risk monitoring of the outstanding debt investments in financial institutions as well as assigned countries of operations, proactively identifying warning signals and proposing credit mitigation strategies and actions.
Analyze and assess regulatory and resolution regimes for financial institutions in different jurisdictions.
Perform industry- and instrument-specific risk analysis e.g.
for Cajas, cooperatives, or for banks' Tier-2 debt instruments.
Demonstrate a constructive approach in the investment process by providing alternative and reasonable structuring advice to mitigate identified elevated risks.
Ensure close cooperation and coordination with Investment Management and other departments within the organization.
Ensure thorough risk reviews of loan agreements and other legal documents from the credit perspective in adherence to the company's/Funds' risk appetite and investment best practice, following the LMA documentation standard.
Stay updated on key market, industry, regulatory, and macroeconomic developments in assigned countries of operation.
Prepare and deliver concise and comprehensive risk-related communications and presentations to key stakeholders, both internal and external.
Provide coaching and guidance to junior staff members to help develop their knowledge and skillset.
What we expect: Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance,
or a related field Understanding of core macroeconomic processes and indicators Excellent understanding of financial markets and dynamics in Central/Latin America (macroeconomic, regulatory and political aspects) Proven professional experience in assessing risks of financial institutions in Latin America (banks, leasing and microfinance organizations), gained from international development banks, private banks, international/regional financing companies, rating agencies, consulting firms, or financial sector regulators Strong team player with the ability to work confidently, with integrity, and with limited supervision Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.
Knowledge of Portuguese is considered an additional advantage.
