This role will be pivotal to our Brink’s success in the LATAM region and will play a compelling part in the company’s transformation by aligning and delivering the technology solutions that support the business strategy, drive change and decision making, and fuel growth. Change management will be crucial and success will be predicted by this leader’s ability to define strategic goals, drive tactical execution with a bias for action and build a high performing team of leaders who are empowered.
Along the way, the successful candidate will identify,
define and mitigate technology debt; evaluate service delivery partnerships to ensure results are achieved; build positive and productive relationships with technology peers and business leaders alike and be the point person for the LATAM market’s technology needs.
The successful candidate will have built an IT career working at scale in a broad, complex business with a matrixed organizational structure, preferably in the services industry. He or she will know how to lead technology in a company or business unit that has successfully navigated disruption or undergone transformation. This leader will be deep technically with business acumen and a results orientation who has demonstrated an ability to leverage new technologies (i.e. AI) for maximum business impact. Functionally, he or she will be experienced in applications development and architecture roles as well as business relationship management. This individual must have the business acumen and professional presence to be considered a potential successor to the Global CIO in future.
Location: The role can be based in South America - Colombia
Reporting Relationship: Upon hiring, this position will report directly to the SVP and Global CIO and on a dotted line basis to the EVP, President LATAM.
This role will influence a budget of approximately $50-60M and a total team of ~30 across 8 LATAM counties.
Responsibilities:
1. Establish and Align Strategic Direction for LATAM region:
- Establish IT LATAM strategy that enables and supports business goals.
- Contribute to strategic planning and direction as part of the enterprise transformation.
- Work closely with Global CIO, Global COEs, Regional President, Regional CFO, and IT peers to align IT with overall business goals, identifying opportunities to enhance profitability, and finally drive performance through the adoption of improved technologies and mitigation of technology debt.
- Drive Excellence in Service Delivery:
- Execute and deliver to IT strategy enabling business results for LATAM region.
- Position technology as an asset across the region by demonstrating exceptional delivery and attaining results.
- Lead evaluation of projects and delivery plans in collaboration with Global PMO and technology steering committee. Assess status, level of urgency, ensure proper governance and technology partner is in place to drive successful results.
- Create business value through effective and innovative uses of technology and data thereby enhancing performance and profitability through improved technologies.
- Develop High Performing Leaders:
- Build and develop effective IT teams to support the region, respective market units and LATAM countries.
- Enable and empower leaders to make decisions in alignment with strategy and desired results, provide for professional development and mentoring opportunities as needed.
- Identify potential new hires in critical roles within the organization’s IT structure.
- Collaborate with Technology and Business Peers:
- Develop an understanding of key business drivers and success factors through direct engagement with business leaders and full participation in key business forums.
- Build relationships with IT peers including the global CISO, global CTO, global head of infrastructure and global head of applications, each of whom will play a critical part in the success of this division.
Travel: Periodic travel across Latin America will be required.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, MIS, or related field.
Professional Qualifications:
- 15+ years’ progressively responsible experience in IT, preferably including applications development, change management,
and architecture with at least five years in an IT leadership role as a high potential vice president or division/ SBU CIO.
- Accustomed to leading in a large matrixed organization structure where building productive working relationships with IT peers and business leaders will drive successful project delivery.
- Experience in the broadly defined services industry will be considered a plus.
- Adept at defining and providing an IT strategy and vision for the division that aligns with corporate initiatives and will be continually refreshed as business circumstances change.
- Communicate effectively with executives and management regarding technology concepts, plans, operations and requirements. Tailor the conversation and vocabulary to the audience.
- Quickly assess an understanding of the status quo and propose strategies to improve the results and reputation of the IT organization.
Build a comprehensive picture of the technology debt incurred and how to remediate it.
- Able to translate technology needs into prioritized plans and budgetary requirements.
- Experience managing managers and attaining results through others.
- Demonstrated project management skills ranging from minor technology upgrades to major shifts in technology approach.
- Must speak English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
