Engineering Generalist, Manizales, Colombia This is a full-time position based in Manizales, Colombia, with a full-time onsite requirement at the studio once established.
GENERALIST ENGINEERS AT BSG You've familiarized yourself with the ins-and-outs of game development through professional and/or independent work and are confident in your understanding of the engineering pipeline.
You have a solid programming skillset but are ready to challenge yourself by starting to take on more responsibilities and larger projects within your specialization.
You may have worn a couple of different hats during your early years in the industry, but you've narrowed down your focus and are fixed on harnessing what you've learned and what you will learn to launch your career as a Generalist Engineer.
You are collaborative, open-minded, and have an overall pleasant disposition.
You can take direction and feedback, are not afraid to ask questions, and understand the value of autonomous work.
Role and Responsibilities Blind Squirrel Games (BSG) is looking for a Generalist Engineer to join us in creating an unannounced game for console.
Supported by Senior and Lead Engineers,
the Generalist Engineer will solve tough technical challenges in a high-energy environment with experienced industry leaders and a highly collaborative team.
The ideal candidate for this role has 2+ years of experience in Unreal Engine 4+ using C++ and an eagerness to explore other game engines and programming languages.
Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field or equivalent professional experience 1+ year professional experience as a programmer 1+ year of professional or independent video game experience Create high-performance, robust, maintainable code in a cross-platform environment Evaluate existing technology architectures Extend existing systems to meet long-term needs of ongoing development Work with external development partners Adhere to team coding standards and practices Required to work independently and report to a manager Other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned to help complete company or department objectives Preferred Skills Fluent in C/C++ Familiar with C, C#, HTML, Java, or HLSL/GLSL Solid understanding of multi-threaded programming Effective communicator in a team-oriented environment Experience with the current PC development process Familiar with contemporary engines (Unreal, Unity, Godot, Source, etc.)
Familiar with contemporary platforms (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, Steam Deck, etc.)
